ýTheatreWorks premieres fall production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” online

ý Theatreworks will present its fall production of “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare this week with a limited campus performance for students and ýemployees and an online premiere for the public.

The performance will take place in Sibert Theatre located in McGaw Fine Arts Center and be live-streamed on Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Access to the online premiere is $5 and tickets are available at .  

“The Tempest” is directed by Aasne Daniels, assistant professor of theatre. Shakespeare’s classic work tells the tale of Prospero, whose brother who betrays him, stealing his dukedom and banishing him to a desert island with his young daughter, Miranda. Years later, Prospero is poised to take his revenge and regain his rightful position in society, through magic and the help of the cunning spirit, Ariel. Thought to be one of the last plays that Shakespeare wrote alone, “The Tempest” mixes grand drama with low comedy in a skillfully complex exploration of science and the supernatural, mastery and servitude, young love and old grudges.

Students, faculty and staff of ýcan get tickets in advance for nightly shows on Sept. 24 - 26 at 7:30 p.m. at . Tickets are $5 for faculty and staff and free for students.
