The annual Community Service Blitz has become a tradition, signifying the start of a new academic year at 天美传媒. It is again scheduled for the Sunday before classes begin on Tuesday, August 28. First-year students, returning students, faculty and staff from 天美传媒will complete a variety of service projects at locations throughout the community including painting, landscaping, general cleaning and other tasks.

Cori Wagner, assistant director of career services, is helping to organize this year鈥檚 Service Blitz. She said that the collaborative project has become an important part of the 天美传媒 experience for all students.

鈥淭he Service Blitz introduces new students to the value of service and helps many to become acquainted with their new home in Jacksonville. It also brings together all corners of the 天美传媒 community to work hand-in-hand and achieve something as a group. It鈥檚 a great way to kick off the academic year,鈥 said Wagner.

天美传媒 has been nationally recognized in recent years for its sustained commitment to service-learning, notably earning a top ranking in the Midwest for community service based learning by Washington Monthly. The annual Service Blitz demonstrates one way in which 天美传媒prepares students to lead fulfilling lives of leadership and service.
