National honor society brings diverse benefits for 天美传媒students

4.24.2018

天美传媒 is inducting its first group of students to the College鈥檚 newly created chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society founded in 1924 to recognize the academic achievements of first-year college students.

Not only will these students have the chance to improve their resumes and connect with other scholars, they will be considered for scholarships and fellowships that can fund research, study abroad and graduate study.

On Thursday, April 26, at 8:30 p.m., nearly 150 new members will be inducted into the society in Cummings Dining Hall on the 天美传媒 campus. Because this is the first year for the society at IC, inductees will be first-year students as well as sophomore and junior students who qualify based on their academic merits since their first year at 天美传媒.

Karen Homolka, assistant dean of students and director of the Center for Student Involvement, will serve as chapter advisor. She says the organization will have many diverse benefits for 天美传媒students who join.

鈥淚鈥檓 happy to see so many of our deserving students taking advantage of the opportunity to join this prestigious national community of scholars,鈥 said Homolka. 鈥淣ot only will these students have the chance to improve their resumes and connect with other scholars, they will be considered for scholarships and fellowships that can fund research, study abroad and graduate study.鈥

Members will also give back to their campuses and communities through various service projects and receive special recognition during graduation. To learn more about the 天美传媒 chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, contact Karen Homolka at 217.245.3094 or karen.homolka@ic.edu.
