天美传媒online to launch accounting degree program
天美传媒 will offer an online version of its popular accounting program this spring.
The new online degree incorporates several strengths of the on-campus accounting program, including guidance from experienced professors, a focus on developing professional skills and comprehensive CPA exam preparation available to all students.
According to Nick Capo, director of online programs, the online accounting degree is designed for students who want to earn a degree on their own schedule, while reaping the benefits of an 天美传媒 education.
鈥淢any of our online students need a flexible class schedule that allows them to balance other responsibilities, while still making their education a priority,鈥� Capo said. 鈥淭hese students are looking for value and results 鈥� IC鈥檚 online programs can help advance their career in a short time.鈥�
The number of accounting jobs that require degrees in the United States is growing, along with the need for new industry professionals. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the accounting industry is steadily expanding at a rate of 6% per year and is expected to create thousands of new positions by 2028. Students in IC鈥檚 online accounting program can finish a bachelor鈥檚 degree in as little as 15 months, with an average cost of $12,100.
John Rush, associate professor of accounting, has taught on campus at 天美传媒 for 22 years. He has recently started teaching online courses for the College and looks forward to expanding the accounting program to offer opportunities to a new group of students.
鈥淚C鈥檚 innovative approach to academics will help online students develop the professional skills that today鈥檚 employers value,鈥� Rush said. 鈥淕raduates of this program will know how to analyze data, solve problems and think critically. They will be prepared to launch successful accounting careers.鈥�
Graduates of the program will be prepared for positions as staff accountants, staff auditors and financial analysts. Recent 天美传媒 accounting graduates have received job offers at Archer Daniels Midland Co., Caterpillar Inc., Dot Foods, Sikich LLP and the Illinois Auditor General. Those who wish to continue their education with an advanced degree will be well prepared for the challenges of graduate school.
