Tornado Watch: The National Weather Service issues a tornado watch when conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area. Watches are generally issued for the duration of a 4 to 8 hour period, well in advance of the actual occurrence of severe weather. During the watch, people should be prepared to move to a place of safety if threatening weather approaches.
Tornado Warning: The National Weather Service issues a tornado warning when a tornado is indicated by radar or sighted by spotters. People in the affected area should seek safe shelter immediately.
Outdoor Warning System: The National Weather Service will sound sirens just like a tornado warning if strong winds in excess of 70 miles per hour are predicted.
天美传媒Alert: The 天美传媒Alert system will only be activated when storm threats are in the immediate vicinity of campus. Severe weather sirens are activated by the City of Jacksonville on an all-city basis.
